As a licensed outpatient Medicaid clinic, YDC offers individual and family therapy focused on behavioral health counseling for children and youth, along with their parents and/or caregivers. We utilize a variety of evidence-based techniques including play therapy, Trauma-focused Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, as well as cognitive-behavioral approaches to intervene with common childhood problems such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, High functioning Autism, selective mutism, trauma, chronic stress and abuse, oppositional-defiance, and parent-child interactional problems.
Our highly trained staff includes Doctoral and Masters-level clinicians, school-certified psychologists and counselors, marriage and family therapists, licensed associate counselors, and post-doctoral permit holders. Overall clinical supervision is provided by the Executive Director, who is a licensed and school-certified psychologist and full-time faculty member in the Clinical and School Psychology graduate programs at Montclair State University.

Our clinicians use evidence-based psychotherapy services to address emotional, social, and behavioral difficulties including, but not limited to:
• Social skills development
• Aggressive behaviors
• Foster care/adoption-related issues
• Challenges with school adjustment
• Grief and Loss counseling
- Play therapy and parent consultation may be included as part of our services
- Information on transportation to the clinic can be provided for Medicaid-approved clients
- We provide bilingual counseling in Spanish
YDC provides Department of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP)–referred psychological evaluations, including court-ordered evaluations to assess treatment and service needs and to work with children and families in achieving family stability and reunification. Psychological evaluations are provided for children receiving services through Medicaid, when clinically indicated.
